“We have to get rid of the Christian men, and then subject their wives to Islam and make them dress like Muslim women,” — Al Shabaab militants who murdered Kenyan Christian men, as overheard by their widowed wives.

It has been one year this July since 8 Christian women in the Coastal Province of Kenya lost their husbands to Islamic militants’ murderous actions. Many of the women are now single mothers who received some initial help from the Church but today are struggling to make ends meet for their families.

One widow from the attack told Morning Star News: “At the moment I am experiencing sleepless nights thinking of what my children are going to eat and how they will remain in school – I cannot afford the payment of the school fees. And some of the children are crying for Dad and wish he was around to provide for them.”

Last July knife-wielding Al-Shabaab militants, associated with Al Qaeda, were following the Islamic creed to its true intent when they targeted non-Muslims for killings. “The Christians were asked to recite the Islamic dogmas, which they could not, hence they were killed,” a source told Morning Star News. The Christian men were shot to death, hacked with machetes and some were beheaded.

Let us pray for their grieving wives and children to continue steadfastly in their faith, to know the peace of Christ amid their tremendous sorrow, and to find true rest in His Word.

“But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.” — Philippians 3:20
